Time to revive the blog for the Summertime card class

Yep no more slacking on the blog....and if you believe that there is some swamp land near me for sale and I live in the desert.   This little card was following the sketch for the Summertime Online Card class.   I love the layered lollipop so it was easy to decide on what to do for the circles.  I used some different pattern papers, a few buttons and then of course some twine.   Thought I would use some of the new solid twine with a bit of washi tape.

PTI Blog Hop Day Color Challenge

Six, yes 6 different choices for the color challenge makes me crazy.   I had a hard time making one card.   Oh the decisions.   In fact I made one card first and hated it and then this little project came to mind today the day of the hop.   I had a very sweet friend drop off some delicious, gooey, fudgy BROWNIES last Sunday night.   So I am dropping off this little thank you.   The polka dot bags are found in my shop and starting next week I will be tying off that bag with SOLID TWINE.   Can't wait for that to come in.   The cheery tomatoes are from my garden.  I am picking about dozen a day and they are soooooooo good.   I have missed home grown tomatoes for to long.   I think the jar stamp is the best stamp and it is one of my PTI favorites.   The background paper is Canyon Clay.  Here is the final color choice.

A bit of patchwork paper piecing and dress up your chocolate

First so glad to see many of you taking advantage of the washi tape discount code.   In case this is the first you are seeing it the code is washifan and it ends Saturday.   Just another way to use that washi tape.   Dress up your chocolate!   This is a jar from a friend who brought back some Giradelli's from San Fran.   YUMMY but I was looking for something to cover and saw the great navy blue label and knew I had the perfect washi tape for the jar lid.   Added a bit of tape to the tag and yummy looks pretty now.

Next is my PTI weekly challenge project.   Paper piecing with Melissa, check out here video here http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/.    I struggled to find the right stamp and then I had some beachy paper scraps sitting on my desk so here is my card.   Again there is some washi tap here and I just love blue and orange together.  The pattern paper, die cuts, and Wish Big stamp are all PTI.   Thanks for dropping by.

Spotlight on washi tape

Since there is a sale over in the shop on washi tape I thought I would share an idea here and there on washi tape.   These are a couple of my current candles from Bath and Body Works.   These are perfectly round and clear so I "dressed" them up with a bit of washi tape.

A little PTI challenge and a hidden code.....

I don't have many of you who follow my blog right now but I have loads of new ideas for the summer to share.   So lets get to the good stuff.   psssssssssssssst   here is a code for a discount on washi tape good through Saturday the 25th on all washi tape in the shop.   30% off.   The code is washifan.   So try out the code.   I have never done one before like this.

Now for my card.   The challenge was to add texture to your stamping with a comb.    I did up a birthday card and yes it has washi tape on it and yes I used my new favorite birthday stamp.

Next week more washi projects!

PTI at an angle.

It's PTI Blog hop day.   I love visiting as many of the blogs on the first day as I can.   There is so much inspiration out there.   This months challenge is to "tilt".   The world has been on a tilt lately so I am happy for a pretty tilt.   Here is the photo posted for inspiration and then my take on the

challenge.

And mine....yes that is washi tape there that the gorgeous sunflowers are sitting on.   Super easy and fun to use.   The twine is the next Red Shimmer.

It's the PTI MIM challenge

Think layers, layers, layers but only with your stamps.   I loved Dawn's challenge today and had a great time creating this card for Mother's Day.   Non traditional colors here but I am very happy with the results.   You can see the PTI goodness here.

It's a Blog Hop for April Fools Day

Welcome to day 2 of Little Prince Blog Hop.  I hope you enjoyed your day yesterday looking through all of the blogs.  My name is Jodi and I am the owner of Talking Twine and Trim @ etsy found here:talkingtwineandtrim@etsy.com   It is a bakers twine shop with some fun new items such as pattern paper straws, seam binding, cupcake boxes, cookie bags and washi tape.   Recently I did a 1 day outdoor boutique and I had questions about what can you do with all of the bright, fun colorful stuff.   So today I am going to share a few ideas that would also work with the little guys in your life.

It's a fun little party favor.   I took a mix of paper straws in boy colors and started with a full length straw and just kept cutting them down by a 1/2 inch.  Then I took 2 lengths of washi tape and taped them together.   Kids could make there own they are so easy!   With that said these little straw pipes don't make noise so they are a mothers dream but a little guy to sing/hum his tune and then they do make music.

Next is a simple scrapbook page.   Yes it has flowers and such on it but the pinwheels are cross gender and I see some great outdoor photos housed here.  There is a bit of washi tape on this layout.

Next is a pillow box that is the perfect place for a gift card.   Slip it in and fold up the edges.   I finished it off with some die cuts, tag and of course my passion bakers twine.

Ok now for the good stuff.   Yes there is a freebie attached to this blog post and this is it.

Yes a prize package of ocean goodness.   10 yards of ocean bakers twine, a roll of ocean washi tape and a box of ocean straws.   Here is how you can win this in a random draw.

1.   Like and share my facebook page here:
2.   Also favorite me over at etsy here:
3.  Check in here and tell me that you are finished and need some ocean pretties.
4.  Also I am really sorry but this time around ONLY US winners please unless you are willing to pay the interenational shipping.   My last two facebook winners have been very nice Canadians and I have to keep shipping to the US.

If you already follow me at either of these pages please leave a comment with that information here as a comment.

Please keep "hopping" along and here is the schedule.

MIM background stamping

This is one of my favorite techniques and I was happy to see Heather use it.    I am trying to use up the scraps here at my house so this "book paper" was lying there and I love the fruit fusion stamps so here is the apple as a background paper.

It's Day One of Pattern Play Online Class

I started up the first class from Online Card Classes Pattern play.   I have taken a college class here and there online but this one was a lot more fun.   Today I made two cards and here is the first one.   It was to use 3 different pieces of pattern paper.  I decided to take some of the paper that really have challenged me and here it is.

It's a two for two Saturday

I am loving the cloudy day today except when I pulled out the camera.   ARHHHHHG.   I am so spoiled living in the Valley of the Sun when it comes to photos.   Anyway these are not the greatest of photos but the cards for challenges are done and I want them to go up.  First up is the PTI MIM challenge.  This challenge is to stamp something in "two colors" ink.   I was not suprised to see so many of the gals pull out this "funky flowers" set from PTI as  the stamp just seemed like a natural in doing this technique.   I used Lavender Moon and Melon Berry ink along with some Winter Wisteria paper also PTI product.

Next up is the Play Date Cafe with their weekly color challenge.   I am so happy to have found this place as I love color challenges and this one really made me think outside the box.   Just a simple card that I plan to put to use tomorrow or Monday just because I can.   The colors to be used are Spring Bud, Azure, and Hollyhock.   The stamped image is a PTI image and die.   The seam binding is from my shop of course.

The Play Date Cafe my first

I happened upon the Play Date Cafe Blog to find myself another color challenge and fell in love with the colors.   A fun, NO PRESSURE blog.   I think I will be over there more.   This weeks challenge Apricot, Mint, and Tangerine.   Here is my take using October Afternoon's Cakewalk and twine from my shop.

It's PTI and more PTI for the MIM

Had some chevron fun with some glitter.   This little card was started ages ago.   Well the base that is.  I was going to play with the Hawaiian Shores pattern paper at the anniversary challenges and just didn't so the base has been sitting there.   I glittered up the yellowy peach chevron and then I knew I needed more.   Stamped my favorite PTI Happy Birthday stamp and I have a quick card.   Enjoyed the MIM challenge this week.  Thanks Dawn!

PTI Blog Hop Maravelous Monograms

What a fun theme for the PTI blog hop this month ....monograms.

February-Blog-Hop-Inspiration
I knew I wanted to use cream, red, and black for this challenge as I love design "classic" things in that trio.   I hunted for the "perfect J" and found this one in the back of the stash so I am happy to use it.   Next I pulled my papers, got out several PTI dies and then it took 10 minutes to pull this together.  I will use this cards someday soon.

It's Pinwheel with for the PTI MIM

I am so glad that Ashley decided to use pinwheels as her challenge this week.  What a fun way to spend a winter evening here.   It doesn't snow often here in the Valley of the Sun but is certainly was fun.   So I pulled out some scraps, washi tape, of course my PTI stamps and then the heart border die cut.   Pink, green, and orange are some of my favorite colors to make cards out of.

PTI and watercolor

This mornings post brought back sweet memories as my mother was an artist who loved to water color. To keep me out of her paints I had my own set. She loved to paint me I like to make messes. So I stamped the peonies and the went in and water colored in some shades. I am very happy with the results.

PTI's YOF Lily of the Valley

I bought the Lily of the Valley stamp set sometime ago and have tried it a couple of times.   NO success and this stamp set has beat me.   So this morning when I saw that there were die cuts to go with it I might win the fight.   So to do the challenge was to leave a comment or to make a project using one of the YOF's stamp sets.  Hmmmmm problem I only have one and that one is Lily of the Valley.   Comment/Project???? Which is it.   Well I made this card and I have to admit I was happy with the finished project.   The small stamp made a very pretty background.   My coloring still stinks but this will work for a friends someday.  The sentiment is from Flower Fusion 2.

MIM got PTI stuck on black

Well apparently I am stuck in black land for stamping and scrapping.   This Monday morning when I looked at the video I knew I was making one.   The PTI challenge is to make a favor box and then stamp on it.   Well I kind of did that.   I pulled out my pretty printed PTI pattern paper and decided that was the base and it scream wedding to me.   So I pulled out the Love and Marriage stamp set and saw that I had never inked up the "Going to the Chapel" stamp.   Found my "Fresh snow" stamp pad and this is my creation.   Had a blast making up this little pillow box.   This die cut is getting used over and over in my creations.

PTI In the Black

It's another PTI blog hop and I just had to play along with the challenge of the black background.   I bought the little fruit stamps and dies quite sometime ago and haven't played with them so I knew what PTI products I had to use.   Stamping with white ink continues to be something I need to work on but here is my product.

I love how the colors pop against the black card stock.  I topped them off with green seam binding and then a attached a piece of twine.   Each piece of fruit has a bit of glitter. OF course there are PTI products.   The fruits are PTI stamps and die cuts.   The sentiments are PTI and the tag die cut is PTI too.

Here is the PTI blog and the inspiration photo for this challenge.

MIM for PTI and I really am excited about 100 GC

If you don't know what all of those letters mean let me just say that 100.00 GC does motivate a girl.   This weeks challenge was to package up one of those cards that has a "bit extra" on it.   The over hanging 3-d flowers and pin need the extra large envelope.   I love that this card is an everyday card but I don't know WHY I did fall colors.  This card is loaded with Papertrey Ink goodness.   The paper flowers are made with PTI dies, the sentiment, the hounds touch stamped back ground.  Love the challenge Dawn!

Bakers Twine the perfect tag attacher

Yes I know that attacher isn't a real word but it works here.   I love how easy bakers twine threads through the hole of a tag.   I love tiny tags too.   Here it is hard at work.
